The King Family is a mini retrospective exhibition of the late William King (Jungala) and works by his two daughters Tarisse and Sarrita who reside in Darwin NT. During early childhood, William spent the majority of his time with his Waanyi father who acted as both a teacher and mentor in many aspects of life.

William’s Gurindji grandfather, who travelled extensively across the country and developed a close connection with the land, passed down his stories and vast desert knowledge to his grandson.

Through the handing down of stories and techniques from William to his eldest daughter Tarisse, the importance of generational sharing continued. Her younger sister Sarrita’s work both extends upon the knowledge of her father’s words and stories and draws upon her own experience with fresh techniques and individuality.
