Survival Day 2009 a Huge Success!

Over a thousand people joined Tandanya in celebrating the spirit of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people's at Survival Day 2009 on January 26th.

Aunty Josie Agius provided the Kaurna Welcome to Country which made way to a day full of music, dance, art, comedy and much, much more. Survival Day is a full day family event with workshops, food, water and entertainment provided free of charge.

Mari Yerta Aboriginal Men's Group ran a BBQ and Prospect Community Kitchen dished up vegetarian delights from their garden. Nunkawarrin Yunti ran a mini-clinic and Neverfail Springwater provided cool water to all.

Aunty Steph was kept busy with children doing art and jewellery making along with Bevan Baxter with his art and storytelling workshops. Betty Sumner taught all who entered her tent Ngarrindjeri weaving. Along with face painting by Joelene and Kurruru circus workshops, people of young and old were kept busy while listening to the likes of Kineman Karma, Warren Milera Band, Karnage and Darnis and many more great bands.

ALRM, ANTaR SA, Reconciliation SA, Domiciliary Care SA and SA Link-Up all had information stalls for people to browse.
