In celebration of NAIDOC Week and its core value of RESPECT, Tandanya is proud to present a day of activities to foster cross generational learning. Family groups are invited to engage with community Elders as they promote sharing and mutual learning through story telling.

On arrival everyone will be welcomed with a Cultural performance by Auntie Elsie (performer Nancy Bates), followed by morning tea. Joining in a Yarning Circle, chats will include childhood stories, toys, ghosts and spirit stories, plus other great topics.

Following the Yarning Circle, community arts films centered on cross generational sharing will be screened in the Tandanya theatre as part of the day’s activities.

With a break for a special Community BBQ, the final activity will be the “NEOMAD iPad Experience” – an interactive three episode comic book application – cleverly designed by Indigenous children through ‘BigHart Australia’ and ‘The Yijala Yala’ projects.

Please note: For catering reasons, numbers for NAIDOC Day 1 “Respect” Workshops are limited to a maximum 50 people.

To foster a greater connection with the younger community Tandanya NACI will also give an introduction showcase to its on-going events, festivals and visual arts programs.
