Tandanya is a valuable educational resource and a unique centre for cross-cultural exchange. Tandanya’s mission is to act as a catalyst for fostering, in a culturally appropriate way, an increased level of understanding and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander arts, culture, history and heritage.
Cultural Education – Emu Tour
Students of all ages participate in tailored programs that make direct links with the DECS SACSA curriculum framework including R-12 Aboriginal perspectives, the Arts, Australian history, Australian Studies, Aboriginal Studies, Studies of Society and Environment, English and Tourism studies.
Through a visit to Tandanya, students will gain insight into aspects of traditional cultures, contact history and contemporary issues through interpretation of our diverse range of exhibitions. Our Tours can be tailored to meet your students needs and have been structured to support the curriculum framework.
Most school visits are 30 – 60 minutes, with a maximum number of students per group of 30. Tandanya’s school education program currently offers a range of Indigenous cultural experiences please download the tour information documents below. Bookings for guided tours of the exhibitions are essential. Please book well in advance of your visiting date (two weeks minimum).
