Ian Wilding is of Wiradjuri heritage with his artwork drawing from this pool of experiential knowledge. Childhood memories of his mother and extended Wiradjuri family from the late 1950’s when he lived with his family in Forbes, a country town in central New South Wales inspires his work.
Wilding has exhibited extensively in group shows, has had several solo exhibitions around Australia since 1993 and has exhibited at Tandanya several times since 2010.
Over the past decade Ian has drawn increasingly from his person daily journal entries, and more recently from the poetry of Indian poet laureate Rabindranath Tagore and American poet Erich Biemer.
Continually influenced by various forms of philosophy, religion, personal heritage, and his position as an art curator are some of the avenues for his artistic expression.
