‘Personally art is about understanding visual language and the visual language you use no matter what the form is. This is where art can have a real personal feel or touch in the experience of art.’ Peter Sharrock, 2011
Sharrock is best known for carving ochre pigment to make sculptures. Self taught, he has developed his method over a twelve year period and the work is also a response to the Australian landscape.
Sharrock’s artwork has been enjoyed by audiences all over the world including Spain, Romania and Wales (UK). In 2009 Sharrock
was a finalist in the 26th National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Art Award, Darwin. As part of this prestigious award Sharrock exhibited a sculpture in his unique ‘Honeycomb Style’, cementing his reputation as an innovative, young artist.
