Ngarlurgu - All of Us
02/05/2008
Cedune Aboriginal Art and Culture Centre
Situated in the township of Ceduna, on the Far west coast of South Australia's Eyre Peninsula. The artists come together from many varied language groups throughout the region, to share and celebrate their culture through art.
Ngarlurgu - All of Us highlights the connections that the Aboriginal people have with their country and the strong influences they gain from the unique diversities of their surrounding environments.
The artists include the Wirangu people of the costal regions around Ceduna who are strongly influenced by the pristine ocean and sea life of the Great Australian Bight.
The Mirning people from the far Western costal regions at the beginning of the Nullabor Plain also gain their inspiration from the ocean; namely the Southern Right Whales which inhabit the local waters.
The Kokatha people gain inspiration from Australia's largest untouched virgin mallee spinifex land to the North of Ceduna which also boasts numerous traditional rockholes. This land continues to the East with the spectacular Gawler ranges and the red sandy soil towards Port Lincoln.
This exhibition gives a true sense of connection and respect shared between the artists and their distinctive country.
