‘Jukurrpa – Our Story’ – Warlukurlangu Artists

12th May - 18th July

Tandanya

Tandanya is excited to present ‘Jukurrpa – Our Story’, an exhibition from the Warlukurlangu
Artists Aboriginal Corporation. Warlukurlangu Artists was established in 1985, and is
recognised as one of the most significant Aboriginal art centres in Australia. Specialising in
the production of acrylic paintings, traditional artefacts and sand paintings, large canvas
commissions, etchings and screen prints, the art centre seeks to foster a growing
understanding of Warlpiri culture and to enhance the lives of the people of Yuendumu. Over
500 artists make up the broad membership of the Association, which is open to all Warlpiri
people from Yuendumu and surrounding homelands.
Tandanya has selected new works from the Artists, providing an exhibition to amaze the
viewer with artworks filled with colourful and cultural potency using form and figure to
express story. These stories relate to ‘Jukurrpa’ (Dreaming) Walpiri law and culture.
In recent years the work of Warlukurlangu artist’s has featured in exhibitions hosted by the
Glasgow Museum, Scotland; Cleveland Centre for Contemporary Art, Ohio, USA; Gifu
Museum of Fine Arts, Japan; Groninger Museum, Holland; The Australian National Gallery,
